A NEW PLAYGROUND IS COMING TO MAINE PARK
The large, main playground at Maine Park, originally installed in the summer of 1993, is scheduled for replacement in the Park District’s 2023 capital budget. Maine Park is a large community park which services all residents of Park Ridge. The playground is also heavily used by our camp participants in the summer.

PROJECT UPDATES
March 13, 2024 - The shelter construction is complete. Concrete is expected to be poured the week of March 18 if weather allows.
February 28, 2024 - The shelter construction is underway.
February 21, 2024 - The contractor has commenced work. Concrete footings for the pavilion have been installed, and work began to excavate the playground water feature.
December 21, 2023 - This week, the concrete curb was poured, trenching for the underdrain occurred, and the utility conflict is be resolved.
December 6, 2023 - Most of the playground elements have been installed. Concrete work, the water play feature, playground surfacing, and landscaping will be installed in the Spring.
November 8, 2023 - The demolition has been completed. Layout is in progress. Most of the playground components have been delivered. The shelter has been delivered. The contractor is intending to complete construction of the playground and shelter this Fall. The playground surfacing will not be installed until spring because the installation is temperature sensitive and requires warmer temperatures.
October 19, 2023 - The construction fence has been installed, and demolition has begun. The contractor is intending to complete construction of the playground and shelter this Fall. However, most likley, the playground surfacing will need to wait until warmer temperatures in Spring for installation.
October 5, 2023 - The construction fence is being installed on Friday, October 6 in preparation for construction starting next week. The playground will not be available for the duration of the project.
September 27, 2023 - Construction on the playground is anticipated to begin in early October. The playground will not be available for the duration of the project.
August 9, 2023 - The playground equipment is estimated to be delivered in October. The contractor will begin the project once the materials are received.
PLANNING PROCESS
A community input meeting was held on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 to gather feedback on three concept plans. A video of the meeting is available for those wishing to learn more about the project.

Residents were given the opportunity to provide input into the proposed plans through a survey. Thank you to those who participated! Feedback from the survey and the Park Board was used to revise the plan and develop a final concept.
The final concept was presented to the community at a virtual meeting held on April 5, 2022. A video of the meeting is available for those unable to attend.
