Hockey

Professional instructors available for all skill levels.

Hockey

Hockey is a fun recreational activity, as well as a competitive sport for kids or adults. Starting off young in a sport such as hockey teaches you the lifelong skills to play or coach hockey into adulthood.

Current program schedule

Youth Hockey

Our Youth Hockey program is held at Oakton Ice Arena and is staffed by USA Hockey certified professional skills instructors, with classes organized by skill level.

Pre-Hockey

Oakton Ice Arena is proud to partner with the Chicago Blackhawks to bring you our MinorHawks Pre-Hockey program! This introductory program is perfect for getting your child involved in the greatest sport on ice. Contact Hockey Supervisor Jordan Mann by email for details.

Hockey 1

All good players are good skaters! Begin with skating skills such as gliding, striding, and turning.

Hockey Advanced

Works on advanced skating skills such as transitions and crossovers. Introduces stick and puck skills as well.

Competitive

Park Ridge Hornets

Is your child ready to try competitive play in a friendly and fun environment? Join our Hornets house league! This in-house league is a great place for children to start practicing their hockey skills in a team setting. Players are divided into teams each season and, at season's end, a champion is crowned. USA Hockey ADM-style cross-ice game format is used. Perfect for recreational play or preparation for travel hockey.

Requirements

Your child’s safety is our number one priority! A helmet is required for all classes; additional safety equipment may be also be required by instructors along the way.
