Build a bat house, lady bug cabin, bird feeder, or bird house at our wooden kit workshop. Please bring a hammer, we’ll supply the hardware, directions, and band aids. One kit per registration. (Min 3/Max 8)

Apr 22 | Restoration Workdays
This is the perfect opportunity for community service hours or simply giving back to the community. We will be cleaning up the Maine Park woodlands, pond, and prairie. To help keep a wonderful park as beautiful as possible, we will remove unwanted trees, plants, and litter. Bring the family.

Apr 25 | Starved Rock Waterfall and Canyon Tour
Experience the fun of outdoor adventure at Starved Rock State Park with a guided walk to three spectacular waterfalls and canyons, French and St. Louis Canyon, and Matthiessen Lake. The tour will also include lunch and a relaxing historical trolley ride. Registration Deadline: April 14. (Min 6/Max 22)

The entire family will enjoy the peaceful night air while sitting around a warm fire listening to stories, singing songs, going for a night hike, and making everyone’s favorite - S’mores! Flashlights are not needed but feel free to bring a blanket or chair to sit on. (Min 6/Max 15)

May 12 | Des Plaines River Clean-Up
Scout Troops, Community Groups, School Groups, Church Groups, and Individuals–Come out and help clean up our environment. We will meet at the Maine Park Leisure Center flagpole at 4:00pm and together we will walk down Sibley to the River and pick up the unwanted litter. Garbage bags, pick-up sticks, and rubber gloves will be provided. Please register for the event. (Min 5/Max 50)

Explore nature with your family on a naturalist led hike through local trails. Meet us at the forest preserves or state park and enjoy the sights, sounds, and fresh air on a hike. Please feel free to bring a sack lunch and enjoy the parks after the hike. One week prior to the trip we will mail you driving directions to the location. (Min 5/Max 25)
