Pollinator Garden

The Park Ridge Park District was awarded a $7,000 grant from the Openlands ComEd Green Region Program to construct the Pollinator Garden at Maine Park.

The garden is located around the Park Sign in the front of the building. The pollinator garden includes native plants selected to attract pollinators as well as a brick paver pathway to encourage visitors to walk through the area to enjoy the plants and view the pollinators in action. The intent of the garden is to provide a habitat for pollinator species utilizing a balance of host plants, nectar plants, and shelter plants. An interpretive sign is also located in the area to educate visitors about pollinators.
