Counselor-in-Training

This is a great opportunity and valuable job experience for individuals age 13 - 15.

The Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program provides a unique opportunity to develop skills necessary for working with children in a hands-on environment. CITs are involved in the daily camp activities assisting camp staff with camp projects, activities, and lesson plans. CITs must be 13 years of age by the first day of camp. Here are the steps to becoming a CIT:

  1. Informational packets are mailed in late April. Packets should be completed and brought with you to your interview.
  2. In May, prospective CITs are contacted to schedule an interview. Bring all paperwork, along with three goals of what you would like to learn through this program.
  3. Once the interviews are complete, CITs are notified of their status. Those selected  need to attend the mandatory orientation. After the orientation, staff determines placement based on CIT's schedule and availability. CITs are not placed in 6th-8th grade camps. A refund is issued if you are not accepted.
