Preschool After Care extends your preschooler’s day by an additional 1.5 hours. Classes are held at the Maine Park Leisure Center. We look forward to a WILDLY fun time! No Class Oct. 13, and Nov 24-28. Class must meet a minimum of 5 students per day in order to run. Classes subject to cancellation prior to the start of the school year.

Discovery Ancient Civilizations through art, ceremony, and engineering. Recreate architectural wonders like the Pyramids and the Great Wall. Test your skills during a game of Ollamaliztli, where the losers faced certain peril! Explore ancient artifacts and design your own kites, amphoras, and woven patterns. Look to the stars for stories as we make our own constellation stories, and enjoy a tea ceremony and Mayan hot chocolate. Write with ancient scripts as we travel back in time together!

Interested in being a ranger at Wildwood? Get a hands-on taste of what it’s like to be a Wildwood ranger. Learn how to clean, feed, and care for the animals during this fun training session. No class October 13, October 31, November 24 and 28.

Begin an investigation of "bugs"! How do praying mantids catch their prey? What makes dragonflies one of the Earth's most efficient hunters? Weave webs like an arachnid, do a pond dip for dragonfly nymphs, and discover more about the hunters of the insect world. Learn how crickets sing and experiment with temperature to change cricket songs. Search for native beetles, butterflies, grasshoppers, and spiders around the prairie, pond and woodland. Enjoy the beauty of butterfly wings and the wonder of a honey bee colony’s work. Design your own test environment to experiment on insect choices with crickets, beetles, and other “bugs”.

Calling together the Adventure Club – come join Wildwood’s naturalists for weekly outdoor excursions. Explore the prairie looking for creatures big and small, grab a net to find bugs in the long grass or in the water, hike the Des Plaines River trail, and discover nature through experiments, projects, and exploration. The majority of the class takes place outdoors.
