Beyond the Bell

Beyond the Bell

Before and After School

“Beyond the Bell” is a quality recreational before and after school program offering activities within a safe, structured, and encouraging environment at Carpenter, Field, Roosevelt, Franklin, and Washington Schools.

Children explore a variety of activity centers daily such as arts & crafts, indoor and outdoor play, and independent homework time. The Park District collects all registration fees, hires, trains, and supervises staff and is responsible for the daily administration of the program. The site coordinator and assistants are all certified in CPR/AED and first aid. In addition, staff is trained in behavior management, mandated reporting, and customer service, and they have passed required background checks.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add a person to my authorized pick-up list?

In an emergency, an immediate authorization of a pick-up person may be directed by text or email to the site coordinator and/or Robin Battaglia at rbattaglia@prparks.org. Ongoing additions to your pick-up list need to be updated in your child's ePact account.

What is ePACT?

ePACT provides a private, online site for emergency records. Families must enter all their critical health and emergency data online. This information is used for authorized pick-up and drop-off persons. This information only needs to be entered once and then ePACT shares it between programs. If families update information, authorized staff are alerted.

When should I call Beyond the Bell?

Please text or call if your child will be absent, has been diagnosed with a contagious condition, or needs to be picked up early.

Site Contact Information

What if school closes due to inclement weather or other reasons?

If District 64 schools switch to eLearning due to snow/inclement weather for the entire school day, Beyond the Bell will be closed.

Should I send a snack with my child?

Yes, and please be sure it is nut-free.

Can my child bring toys or electronic devices from home?

No. Please do not let your child bring personal belongings from home. We know how important and expensive some items can be. The Park Ridge Park District is not responsible for anything lost, stolen, or broken.

Will my child complete homework while at Beyond the Bell?

While BTB staff will provide a quiet time each afternoon for children who wish to complete homework, it is ultimately the responsibility of the child and their family to ensure it gets done. Staff may offer reminders and encouragement, but they will not enforce homework completion, nor are they expected to tutor or provide one-on-one academic support.

BTB is a recreational program designed to offer a fun and engaging environment after the school day. Our goal is to maintain a positive, activity-based atmosphere, rather than extend the structured academic setting. We believe participation in recreational activities is essential to each child’s development and well-being.

Can I take my child to their locker if they leave something behind?

District 64's secure building policy prohibits us from going to lockers and rooms after the end of the school day.

Will I be charged if I pick up late?

There is a late fee for repeated late pick-ups not associated with an emergency situation.

What should I do if I need to change the days of the week my child attends?

Please email Robin Battaglia, Youth Coordinator at rbattaglia@prparks.org with schedule adjustments. Due to the high demand of the program, we may not be able to accommodate your request to switch days. Five business days are required to process any changes. A $5 service fee per schedule change will be charged to your account.

What should I do if my child will be absent?

Absences can be emailed or texted to the site coordinator at the number listed above. Failure to do so may result in a charge to your account. Please see the Parent Manual for details.
