Programs

1110120 / Skateboard Lessons

Appropriate for beginning and intermediate levels. Beginners learn how to start, stop, turn, basic ramp riding, and tricks; intermediate skaters learn skills based on ability. Skaters must bring a drink and wear a helmet. Knee, elbow, and wrist guards encouraged. No board, No problem. We can lend you one for class. 2110214 / Mini Golf & Go-Karting Teens Trip

Get ready for an action-packed adventure at Enchanted Castle in Lombard! Teens will tee off on a vibrant, epic indoor mini golf course filled with fun twists and challenges, then shift into high gear on a high-adrenaline indoor go-kart racetrack. This trip is the perfect mix of friendly competition, nonstop excitement, and unforgettable memories with friends. Please be sure to bring some cash, as participants may wish to purchase food from the concession stand or enjoy the arcade games available. The bus will depart from MPLC.

2110404 / Computer Explorers: Video Game Lab

This class focuses on teaching the FUNdamentals of engineering as students use LEGO simple and motorized machine kits. Each session will build upon the student’s skill level as they learn about levers, wheels/axles, and gears. Projects could include building: drawbridges, cars, amusement park ride, cranes catapults and much more! Join the fun while you explore engineering concepts that you can use at home for your own projects.

Come join Glitzy Girlz (www.glitzygirlz.com) on a date for some special memories for MOM. Whether its a adult coming with a child to make gifts for Mothers Day or a Mom spending a evening with that special child/s in the month of May, its a moms celebration! Each couple will make (3) surprises: Ceramic, Wooden & a Beaded Item with Mom accents and charms. A special gift wrapping/bags station will conceal any surprises to take home and save for Mother Day. Always a cherished time every May for this class!!

Sticky Fingers Cooking offers young chefs the chance to explore exciting tastes and master culinary skills that kids can put to use in their family kitchens while nourishing their bodies and minds. We provide all of the tools, ingredients, and instruction needed to cook up a fun, delicious, and incredibly healthy after-school snack each week.

Love building with LEGO®? Love video games? It all comes together with TechStars! You and your partner will create video games, and then use LEGO® Robotics kits to build a controller for your Scratch game. This special course lets you build robots with sensors that communicate and control your games. Build alligators, magic wands and a watch as you bring them to life onscreen!

Explore gears using LEGO®, as we work to find out how gears help make the world turn. We’ll make projects that crank, mesh, pump, push, pull, tug or grind. All of which turn out to be very useful simple machines.

4110801 / Glitzy Girlz: Summer Neon Dance Glam Night

Come join Glitzy Girlz (www.glitzygirlz.com) for a night of Summer fun with NEON! Our staff will be wrapping hair in a Neon Summer Bandana, neon make-up and neon nail polish application. They will decorate a neon drawstring summer bag as well as designing a fun beaded anklet with a summer charm. Our class ends with dancing to neon lights and fun pop music. A cool Neon backdrop and summer props will be in room for some great pics. Each participant will leave with a summer themed glam bag of goodies! DROP OFF CLASS ONLY- No parents -The younger ages must be independent

4110815 / Glitzy Girlz: End of Summer Luau Glam Night

Come join Glitzy Girlz staff (glitzygirlz.com) and head to Hawaii before school starts! Our staff will be glamming up the girls with hair flower, make-up sparkle and pretty nail polish application complete with flower nail stickers. They will decorate a craft with paints, stencils and flower embellishments/jewels. They will also design a fun beaded bracelet with Hawaiian charms. Each participant will receive a take home outfit of a flower lei and a flowered Hawaiian skirt for photos at our Palm Tree Backdrop and props. The class ends with Maraca Freeze Dance and Limbo line! Come vacay with friends! DROP OFF CLASS ONLY- No Parents- the younger ages must be independent

Join us for a fun-filled summer evening at Adventure Golf in Skokie! We’ll depart from Maine Park Leisure Center and head to the mini golf course, followed by time at the batting cages. After we finish at Adventure Golf, we’ll stop at Steak 'n Shake for a quick bite. Be sure to bring extra cash if you’d like to purchase food. The bus leaves at 4:30 PM from Maine Park Leisure Center, so please arrive 5–10 minutes early to check in at the lobby. Middle and High School students who are eager to learn all things about money…. Immerse your student in the world of savings, debt, budgets, credit, interest, investments and more. Our classes use real-world scenarios and hands-on, fun activities in order to light the fire for students to be financially literate...and set them up for a lifetime of success and independence! Taught by Financial Literacy for the Next Generation, a local business focused on preparing Middle and High School students for one of the most important chapters of their life: the financial chapter.

Middle and High School students love Shark Tank and learning about the stock market! Our class introduces important concepts like how markets work, the importance of saving and investing early, diversification, and the language of Wall Street. We apply these skills using an online investment simulation game...a hands-on, fun activity that reinforces what they have learned. Your child will build positive money habits and be financially savvy...and begin their journey towards a financially independent future! Taught by Financial Literacy for the Next Generation, a local business focused on preparing Middle and High School students for one of the most important chapters of their life: the financial chapter.

This program introduces you to the ultimate game of tactics and strategy at an energizing pace. Participants will develop critical thinking skills while having fun and staying fully engaged. These lessons surely leave you wanting more! About the Mentor: International Master Arjun Vishnuvardhan became an IM at 16 and has a strong competitive record, including the British Junior Chess Championship (2001) and the U.S. National G/60 Chess Championship (2006). He leads many chess programs, inspiring players of all levels to grow and enjoy the game.

Looking for a fun, creative outlet with this hands-on workshop. Bring a shirt, hoodie, hat, or other item to personalize using iron-on patches that reflect your interests and style. Staff will be available to guide you through the process, no experience needed. It’s a relaxed, social setting where teens can connect with friends and leave with a custom piece they’ll be proud to wear.
