Beyond the Bell

Beyond the Bell

Providing children a solid foundation for future school success.

Before and After School

“Beyond the Bell” is a quality recreational before and after school program offering activities within a safe, structured, and encouraging environment at Carpenter, Field, Roosevelt, Franklin, and Washington Schools.

Children explore a variety of activity centers daily such as arts & crafts, indoor and outdoor play, homework time and light snacks. The Park District collects all registration fees, hires, trains and supervises staff and is responsible for the daily administration of the program. Site Coordinator and assistants are all certified in CPR/AED and first aid. In addition, staff is trained in behavior management, mandated reporting, customer service and have passed required background checks.

10/22/2021 UPDATE: Park District staff continues to work diligently to staff and accommodate the BTB waitlists at each school. As with many employers nationwide, we continue to be impacted by the labor shortage. The following lists just some of the efforts put forth for recruiting: reached out to local colleges and high schools, worked with several career counselors and internship programs at our local high school, joined a national college network to post positions, hosted job fairs, reached out to local legislators to help post open positions, offered financial referral incentives to current employees, posted on numerous social media platforms, sent eblasts, and posted on District's marquee signs. The positions have also been advertised on Indeed, Glassdoor, Simply Hired, and Resumes.com. Please know that we are continuing to actively seek qualified team members to fill these positions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add a person to my authorized pick-up list?

In an emergency, an immediate authorization of a pick-up person may be directed by text or email to the site coordinator and/or Robin Battaglia at rbattaglia@prparks.org. Ongoing additions to your pick-up list need to be updated in your child's ePact account.

What is ePACT?

ePACT provides a private, online site for emergency records. Families enter all their critical health and emergency data online. This information only needs to be entered once and then ePACT shares it between programs. If families update information, authorized staff are alerted.

When should I call Beyond the Bell?

Please text or call if your child will be absent, has been diagnosed with a contagious condition, or needs to be picked up early.

Site Contact Information

What if school closes due to inclement weather or other reasons?

If District 64 schools switch to eLearning due to snow/inclement weather for the entire school day, Beyond the Bell will be closed.

Can I send a snack with my child for dietary or allergy concerns?

Yes, as long as it is nut-free.

Can my child bring toys or electronic devices from home?

No. Please do not let your child bring personnel belongings from home. We know how important and expensive some items can be. The Park Ridge Park District is not responsible for anything lost, stolen, or broken.

Will my child complete homework while at Beyond the Bell?

Beyond the Bell does provide time and supervision to encourage children to complete their homework; however, we do not proof your student's work or require them to work on/complete their homework.

Can I take my child to their locker if they leave something behind?

District 64's secure building policy prohibits us from going to lockers and rooms after the end of the school day.

Will I be charged if I pick up late?

There is a late fee for repeated late pick-ups not associated with an emergency situation.

What should I do if I need to change the days of the week my child attends?

Please email Robin Battaglia, Youth Coordinator at rbattaglia@prparks.org with schedule adjustments. Due to the high demand of the program, we may not be able to accommodate your request to switch days. Five business days are required to process any changes. A $5 service fee per schedule change will be charged to your account.

Payment Plan

The registration fees are listed on the Park District website and in the program brochure. For participants that elected to establish a monthly payment plan by credit card, (VISA, MasterCard or Discover), the monthly payment cycle will begin on August 15th, and continue the 15th of every month thereafter till final payment on May 15th.
