Located just south of Chicago, Thornton Quarry is one of the largest commercial stone quarries in the world and home to one of the region’s most significant fossil sites. During this guided tour, you'll descend into the quarry to view the remains of a 410-million-year-old Silurian reef, learn about the quarry’s rich history, and gain insight into its ongoing operations. This unique experience offers a rare opportunity to explore geology, history, and industry all in one remarkable setting. Afterwards we will have lunch at Portillo’s.
