Winter Facilities

Outdoor Skating

Skating and sledding facilities are open December 20 through February 28 (weather permitting).

How will you know when you can skate?
✅ Check for the green flag (at South Park)
✅ Check our Field & Facility Conditions page

Please note the following:

  • The rinks may close periodically for maintenance, such as shoveling or adding a top coat of water (which will need time to freeze).
  • The rinks do not have an underground refrigeration system. Making ice is reliant on weather temperatures. If temperatures are above freezing (32° F), we cannot maintain the ice.
  • Weather Guidelines: Seasonal facilities will be open when wind chill is above -20° F or temperature is above 10° F.

Outdoor Skating at South Park

Flag System

Green flags indicate safe conditions.
Red flags indicate unsafe conditions.

The ice rinks are swept and re-surfaced as needed. To ensure safety, the rinks are monitored and checked daily. Flags are posted to let skaters know when conditions are safe. At no time should you skate on a rink with a red flag. Always check the flags upon arrival at the rinks before going on the ice.
